Ameris

Quarter Horse - Bay - Mare - 15 hh

08/21/09

When Ameris first arrived at Fearless Hooves Haven she was timid, scared, and had no trust in people.  She hung back, kept her distance, and carried the weight of uncertainty in every step.  With patient hands, quiet moments, and consistent care, Ameris began to let her guard down.  Little by little she found food that nourished her, routines that comforted her, and people who proved they could be trusted.

Today, Ameris is a totally different Mare - healthy, rounder, and full of soft curiosity.  She now greets us for kisses and snuggles and, on the occasional day she wants to remind us who's boss, she gives that classic mare stare.  Ameris was part of our very first crew and has earned her place here as the matriarch of Fearless Hooves Haven.  Her transformation is a beautiful reminder of why we do this work: patience, love, and a chance make all the difference.

Ameris is part of our riding program here for experienced riders only.

Chippewa
(Chippy)

Appaloosa - Grey Roan - Gelding -

14.2 hh

09/08/2012

Chippy came to us skinny with a sweet disposition.  He's a quirky little guy with a lot of spunk - pretty sure "Dancing Queen" is on repeat in his head.  He's the sweetest and most patient boy, and my kids fell in love with him the first moment they met him.

We jokingly call his lips "go-go gadget lips" because he uses them to try to sneak out of gates - always plotting his next escape with those sneaky snags!

Chippy has been an incredible addition to Fearless Hooves Haven and has taught my boys so much about horse care.

Chippy is part of our riding program here for all levels of experience.

Hamilton
(Hammy)

QHxTB - Chestnut - Gelding - 16 hh - 08/20/2012

This boy is pure personality (we call him hammy because he's SUCH a ham!)  He's super friendly and beginner-safe - the perfect gentle partner for someone looking for a kind hearted mount.  He likes to hang out with Ameris and Chippy - the three stooges.

Here's a bit about Hammy:

*Full of love and LOVES treats - hide those peppermints, he can smell them a mile away!

*Kisses his people back when you smooch his nose -yes you will be covered in all his leftover dinner after he has kissed you all over!

*Came to us thin, worn and riddled with thrush, but with vet care, deworming, and lots of patience and TLC, he's finally gaining weight and thriving!

*Had a short setback but is well on his way to looking and feeling incredible!

Elektra

Saddlebred - Chestnut -

Mare - 16 hh

01/20/2021

Meet Elektra — This beauty is the baby of our herd and absolutely shouldn’t have been this skinny! This tall, red‑headed beauty is living up to her heroine name. Her tail is long and gorgeous — a real showstopper.

Elektra loves hanging with her best pal, Gaston, and soaks up attention. If she sees you walking down the driveway she’s already at the fence, waiting to be noticed. She’s patient at feeding time and has been so easy to work with.  More WOAH! than GO! under the saddle - and has SO much potential!

Gaston

Morgan X Draft - Bay

Gelding - 15 hh

01/23/2011

Are you singing the song yet?

"No one's slick as Gaston

No one's quick as Gaston

No one's neck's as incredibly thick as Gaston's..."

Okay, OK — picture that sung by a big, snuggly horse who expects kisses on demand and will side-eye you if you pet another pony.

He loves treats, smooches, and being admired (he knows he’s handsome!). Unlike the cartoon Gaston, he’s all cuddles and zero villainy.

Luna Noir

Rocky Mountain - Black Bay -

Mare - 14.3 hh

01/10/2014

She came to us with zero trust in humans, but with patience, respect, and compassion she has completely blossomed. Now she eats treats from my hand, accepts kisses and scratches, and is pure sweetness.

Luna is absolutely stunning — a true beauty. Once you earn her trust she’ll be your best friend and she ALWAYS knows when you have treats in your pocket. Her poor mane was full of burrs, but after her makeover she’s happy! Her nose is silky smooth (my favorite spot to kiss!), and she makes the funniest face for peppermint candies.(But usually spits them out) She’s my kids’ favorite and would be the perfect companion for any experienced kid or adult.

Sterling

Missouri Fox Trotter - Grey - Gelding - 15 hh

01/23/2011

He arrived a little shy, but with patience and love he’s become my best friend. If I turn my back, he’ll nudge me for attention! He’s endlessly curious, loves sniffing faces, and tries to slobber my nose (seriously — adorable ).

He even came with a few “fairy knots,” so I’m starting to think he might secretly be a UNICORN

Sterling didn’t know grain or treats at first, but with encouragement he’s finally started eating and accepting treats. He’s getting the vet care and hoof care he desperately needed, plus nourishing food to help him gain weight.

He is my absolute favorite rescue we have right now - and no doubt he would be your favorite as well!

Pongo

Rocky Mountain - Chocolate -

Gelding - 15 hh

02/02/2011

Meet Pongo — I don’t even know where to start with this gentle guy — he’s the sweetest! He’s still unsure about treats: on day one he’d smell them from afar and make the funniest faces, and now he’ll come right up to sniff them… but he’s not quite ready to eat them yet.

When it’s breakfast or dinner he’s right there, ears up and sometimes doing a little dance! He’s so gentle and would be great for any experience level. He would make a great kids horse! He loves scratches, is getting much‑needed hoof care, and will be ready for his forever home in no time.
